— Asura to Augus |
Naraka (Sanskrit: नरक) is a strange world between life and death that was ruled by the Golden Spider.
Description
Naraka exists between life and death. The realm itself consists of an endless number of massive pillars of intricate designs ranging from tortured faces to decorated structures all connecting to a bottomless, dark pit of nothingness. The souls and spirits of the dead end up in Naraka upon departure, as this place is the only realm Asura went to every time he died, before returning to be part of Mother Gaea. Upon falling into the depths of Naraka, every living being's soul will reunite with the wheel of life and death and become one with the flow of Mantra.
Story
Asura's spirit goes to Naraka after his body is destroyed during the betrayal of the newly formed Seven Deities. Due to some goading by the Golden Spider, he claws his way up one of the endless pillars scattered throughout the darkness, determined on returning to the world of the living and having his revenge.
12,500 Years later
During Asura's final battle with Chakravartin, the Mantra god manipulates the space inside his colossal statue and creates a pocket reality of Naraka to attempt to destroy the demigod. However, Asura in his Six-Armed Mantra /Destroyer form is powerful enough to destroy the illusion.
Trivia
- Naraka is the Sanskrit word for the underworld. According to Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism, Naraka is a place of torment, or Hell, a void of impure chaos where light or darkness cannot be met, as well as a location where the souls are sent for the expiation of their sins and the demons reside.
- The wheel of life and death, of which the souls of the deceased return to part of upon arriving at Naraka, is known as "Saṃsāra" in Hinduism and several other Indian religions, which represents the cycle of life, death, and rebirth/reincarnation.
